Image Guidelines:
Themed designes are especially sought after. Most of our customers are creating albums based on themes like weddings, sports, baby, vacation or heritage. Creating entire albums based on these themes will increase your sales.

Image Sizes:
We offer several book sizes to our customers. We recommend offering graphics to your customers in several sizes for maximum exposure. 12x12, 10x10, 8x8, 8.5x11, and 5x7 are our most popular sizes.

Bleed:
All backgrounds must be created with 1/8" bleed added on all 4 sides (so a 12x12 should be 12.25x12.25). In addition, elements or graphics must be kept at least 3/8" away from the canvas edge. If you are designing anything with a border or a two-page spread, leave an extra 1/4" on the binding side of the page.

File Format:
Traditional quick pages with transparent openings for photos are very large PNG files. To keep file uploads down in size, our quick pages will be supplied in pieces. The customer will drop an embellished background on the page. Then, drop their photo on top of that. Finally, they will layer an embellished frame over the photo. This way, only the embellished frame will need to be a PNG and the result is a much smaller file for uploading to us. Backgrounds may be embellished with elements, flattened and saved as JPGs with a quality setting of 10. Clustered frames to complete the quick page should be saved with drop shadows as PNG files.

Copyright LawsYou must own the copyright for all graphics you sell through MyPicTales. Take care to ensure that your designs do not encroach on any other copyright or trademark. Here are some tips on what you may NOT use:
    1. A photograph of a photograph.
    2. A photograph that you didn't take.
    3. An image you found (from a book or magazine or other printed object).
    4. Tracing (illustrations) or creating unauthorized derivative works.
    5. Any graphic depicting logos, trademarks, company names, product names, product brands or trademarked or patented designs.
    6. Any modern object with a copyright symbol or brand name on it.
    7. Paintings or sculptures created by anyone other than you, any object in a museum or an art gallery, printed advertisements, photographs of photographs.
    8. Modern maps, documents with names, computer screens (interfaces and icons are copyrighted).
    9. Traced illustrations that you do not own the original copyright for.
    10. Agency insignia, military decorations, golden eagles, Presidential seals, flat scans of US currency.
    11. Trademarked buildings, monuments & landmarks: research the structure before using these types of images.
Using Commercial-Use Graphics:
    1. Your products must be of your original creation.
    2. If you use a commercial-use product, you must keep a record of that product purchase in case any question or claim arises.
    3. Not all commercial-use products for sale are high quality. Use only high-quality items in your designs.
    4. Do not use a purchased item as is. Make each item unique with your unique touch on it.
    5. Research your commercial use vendors carefully. Purchase only products that are original creations of the seller. Do not purchase something if you do not know where it came from. Do not purchase clipart or download items unless they are from the original source.
    6. If you have questions on the terms of items you want to purchase, email the seller. Designs sold at MyPicTales must allow for Scrap-4-Hire use, so be sure you are in compliance.
